TPP on "the deal"

TEA PARTY PETITION SLAMS TAX COMPROMISE
AS 'BACKROOM DEAL'
Americans Demand Promised Transparency, Adherence to 'Pledge to America'
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the Tea Party Patriots launched a petition (http://notaxcompromise.com/) to supporters across the country denouncing the tax cut compromise forged in secret by the Obama Administration and Republican Leadership in Congress. The plan was negotiated without the consultation of newly-elected Members of Congress or the American people and violates several components of the Republican's "Pledge to America."
"This 'backroom deal' ignores those who voted for principled leadership on Election Day," said Mark Meckler, National Coordinator of Tea Party Patriots. "Americans demand transparency in the legislative process and policies that reflect fiscal responsibility-not secret negotiations and weak compromise."
"Republicans in Congress only have the leverage to negotiate for tax deals because of the support Americans gave them and principled candidates across the country," said Jenny Beth Martin, National Coordinator of Tea Party Patriots. "It is an insult to those who voted them into power to procrastinate on their pledge to honor conservative principles."
Following are excerpts of the petition:
· Do not let Congress compromise with President Obama. "The Compromise" is against everything the House Republican Leadership agreed to in the "Pledge to America." This type of behind closed door politics is not what "We the People" voted for in November.
· "The Deal" was forged in secret, without consultation with the scores of new representatives and senators who campaigned on a much different agenda.
· "The Deal" like Obamacare, isn't reduced to writing even now. Like Obamacare, we are being told we will have to pass the bill to find out what is in it.
· "The Deal" revives the death tax, an immoral "vampire tax" that sucks the blood from the dead, ruins family businesses and double taxes savings that were accumulated over a lifetime.
· "The Deal" spends billions and billions of dollars that the country does not have in order to prevent a tax hike that the country voted against...the GOP bribed the president to follow the will of the people.
· There are at least five provisions of the Pledge that are violated by "The Deal."

Order of Instruction.... re: Marijuana initiative...
"The governor is not allowed to veto a citizens initiated law. Instead, Baldacci took the suggestions from this corrupted taskforce and crafted an amendment to the people's law, LD 1811. This amendment did a number of things. The more egregious changes include changing the registration from voluntary to mandatory, adding a fee of $100 a year for the registration, requiring patients to sign a release giving the DHHS full access to their private medical files and subjecting patients to unwarranted searches and seizures."
If you disagree with this sort of meddling please download, print out and send to your local state Rep/Senator.

The task for the Lame Duck... Session...
We must defeat or minimize the damage from the following:
- The DREAM Act - Amnesty for illegal immigrants beyond current military process of becoming a US Citizen - Send a Free Fax to Sen. LeMieux http://southfloridateaparty.net/content/stop-amnesty-send-free-fax-sen-lemieux
-Allow to expire all the Stimulus in all its forms including the Build America Bonds program. Be aware of the impact on profligate local and State governments and make adjustments where appropriate http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704648604575620610837699250.html?KEYWORDS=muni+federal+program
- TANF (expires December 4th)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporary_Assistance_for_Needy_FamiliesThis is what was added http://economic-legislation.blogspot.com/2010/10/tanf-emergency-contingency-fund.html by the Stimulus and must end.
- FAA (Expires December 31st) Reduce TSA funding - Ask your Senator/Congressman to revert TSA back to contractor status, metal detectors, profiling and dogs. It's less stressful;. costs less and more effective. Body scanners are a law enforcement tool for terrorists and smugglers. I am unconvinced the reduction of terrorism off sets the health and legal concerns.
-FDA Food Modernization Act - Will add more government control over food supply. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-510&tab=summary
- FCC Net Neutrality - a threat to free speech through regulation not legislation http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2010/05/06/how-the-fcc-plans-to-regulate-internet-lines/
- The Paycheck "Fairness" Act - A threat to Free Markets and extends government's role into hiring and pay. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-1338
- Quantitative Easing - Defend your purchasing power by asking your Representatives to stop Quantitative Easing. I can't stress the importance of telling DC to stop messing around with the values of our currency. http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-11-08/china-says-fed-easing-may-flood-world-economy-with-hot-money-.html

The DREAM Act: STILL A Dreadful Nightmare
Information about the NIGHTMARE Act
Contact information for the targeted Senators
Information from Sen. Jeff Sessions (via Michelle Malkin)
Ten Things You Need To Know About S.3827, The DREAM Act
1. The DREAM Act Is NOT Limited to Children, And It Will Be Funded On the Backs Of Hard Working, Law-Abiding Americans
Proponents of the DREAM Act frequently claim the bill offers relief only to illegal alien "kids." Incredibly, previous versions of the DREAM Act had no age limit at all, so illegal aliens of any age who satisfied the Act's requirements-not just children-could obtain lawful permanent resident (LPR) status. In response to this criticism, S.3827 includes a requirement that aliens be under the age of 35 on the date of enactment to be eligible for LPR status. Even with this cap, many aliens would be at least 41 years old before obtaining full LPR status under the Act-hardly the "kids" the Act's advocates keep talking about.
The DREAM Act requires that DHS/USCIS process all DREAM Act applications (applications that would require complex, multi-step adjudication) without being able to increase fees to handle processing. This mandate would require either additional Congressional appropriations, or for USCIS, a primarily fee-funded agency, to raise fees on other types of immigration benefit applications. This would unfairly spread the cost of administering the DREAM Act legalization program among applicants and petitioners who have abided by U.S. laws and force taxpayers to pay for amnesty. Taxpayers would also be on the hook for all Federal benefits the DREAM Act seeks to offer illegal aliens, including student loans and grants.
2. The DREAM Act PROVIDES SAFE HARBOR FOR ANY ALIEN, Including Criminals, From Being Removed or Deported If They Simply Submit An Application
Although DREAM Act proponents claim it will benefit only those who meet certain age, presence, and educational requirements, amazingly the Act protects ANY alien who simply submits an application for status no matter how frivolous. The bill forbids the Secretary of Homeland Security from removing "any alien who has a pending application for conditional status" under the DREAM Act-regardless of age or criminal record-providing a safe harbor for all illegal aliens. This loophole will open the floodgates for applications that could stay pending for many years or be litigated as a delay tactic to prevent the illegal aliens' removal from the United States. The provision will further erode any chances of ending the rampant illegality and fraud in the existing system.
3. Certain Criminal Aliens Will Be Eligible For Amnesty Under The DREAM Act
Certain categories of criminal aliens will be eligible for the DREAM Act amnesty, including alien gang members and aliens with misdemeanor convictions, even DUIs. The DREAM Act allows illegal aliens guilty of the following offenses to be eligible for amnesty: alien absconders (aliens who failed to attend their removal proceedings), aliens who have engaged in voter fraud or unlawfully voted, aliens who have falsely claimed U.S. citizenship, aliens who have abused their student visas, and aliens who have committed marriage fraud. Additionally, illegal aliens who pose a public health risk, aliens who have been permanently barred from obtaining U.S. citizenship, and aliens who are likely to become a public charge are also eligible.
4. Estimates Suggest That At Least 2.1 Million Illegal Aliens Will Be Eligible For the DREAM Act Amnesty. In Reality, We Have No Idea How Many Illegal Aliens Will Apply
Section 4(d) of the DREAM Act waives all numerical limitations on green cards, and prohibits any numerical limitation on the number of aliens eligible for amnesty under its provisions. The Migration Policy Institute estimates that the DREAM Act will make approximately 2.1 million illegal aliens eligible for amnesty. It is highly likely that the number of illegal aliens receiving amnesty under the DREAM Act will be much higher than the estimated 2.1 million due to fraud and our inherent inability to accurately estimate the illegal alien population. Clearly, the message sent by the DREAM Act will be that if any young person can enter the country illegally, within 5 years, they will be placed on a path to citizenship.
5. Illegal Aliens Will Get In-State Tuition Benefits
The DREAM Act will allow illegal aliens to qualify for in-state tuition, even when it is not being offered to U.S. citizens and legally present aliens living just across state lines. Section 3 of the DREAM Act repeals Section 505 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1623) which prohibits giving education benefits to an unlawfully present individual unless that same benefit is offered to all U.S. citizens.
6. The DREAM Act Does Not Require That An Illegal Alien Finish Any Type of Degree (Vocational, Two-Year, or Bachelor's Degree) As A Condition of Amnesty
DREAM Act supporters would have you believe that the bill is intended to benefit illegal immigrants who have graduated from high school and are on their way to earning college degrees. However, the bill is careful to ensure that illegal alien high school drop-outs will also be put on a pathway to citizenship - they simply have to get a GED and be admitted to "an institution of higher education," defined by the Higher Education Act of 1965.
Under the Higher Education Act, an "institution of higher education" includes institutions that provide 2-year programs (community colleges) and any "school that provides not less than a 1-year program of training to prepare students for gainful employment" (a vocational school). Within 8 years of the initial grant of status, the alien must prove only that they finished 2 years of a bachelor's degree program, not that they completed any program or earned any degree.
If the alien is unable to complete 2 years of college but can demonstrate that their removal would result in hardship to themselves or their U.S. citizen or LPR spouse, child, or parent, the education requirement can be waived altogether.
7. The DREAM Act does not require that an illegal alien serve in the military as a condition for amnesty, and There is ALREADY A Legal Process In Place For Illegal Aliens to Obtain U.S. Citizenship Through Military Service
DREAM Act supporters would have you believe that illegal aliens who don't go to college will earn their citizenship through service in the U.S. Armed Forces. However, the bill does not require aliens to join the U.S. Armed Forces (the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard); instead it requires enlistment in the "uniformed services." This means that aliens need only go to work for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or Public Health Service for 2 years to get U.S. citizenship. If the alien is unable to complete 2 years in the "uniformed services," and can demonstrate that their removal would result in hardship to themselves or their U.S. citizen or LPR spouse, child, or parent, the military service requirement can be waived altogether. Such claims will likely engender much litigation and place a huge burden on DHS.
Furthermore, under current law (10 USC § 504), the Secretary of Defense can authorize the enlistment of illegal aliens. Once enlisted in the U.S. Armed Forces, under 8 USC § 1440, these illegal aliens can become naturalized citizens through expedited processing, often obtaining U.S. citizenship in six months.
8. Despite Their Current Illegal Status, DREAM Act Aliens Will Be Given All The Rights That Legal Immigrants Receive-Including The Legal Right To Sponsor Their Parents and Extended Family Members For Immigration
Under current federal law, U.S. citizens have the right to immigrate their "immediate relatives" to the U.S. without regard to numerical caps. Similarly, lawful permanent residents can immigrate their spouses and children to the U.S. as long as they retain their status. This means illegal aliens who receive amnesty under the DREAM Act will have the right to immigrate their family members-including the parents who sent for or brought them to the U.S. illegally in the first place-in unlimited numbers as soon as they become U.S. citizens (6 to 8 years after enactment) and are 21 years of age.
Additionally, amnestied aliens who become U.S. citizens will be able to petition for their adult siblings living abroad to immigrate to the U.S., further incentivizing chain migration and potentially illegal entry into the United States (for those who don't want to wait for the petition process overseas). When an adult brother or sister receives a green card, the family (spouse and children) of the adult sibling receive green cards as well.
9. Current Illegal Aliens Will Get Federal Student Loans, Federal Work Study Programs, and Other Forms of Federal Financial Aid
Section 10 of the DREAM Act allows illegal aliens amnestied under the bill's provisions to qualify for federal student assistance under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1001 et seq.) in the form of federal student loans (Stafford Loans, Perkins Loans, Federal Direct Stafford/Ford Loans), federal work-study programs, and other federal education services such as tutoring and counseling.
10. DHS Is Prohibited From Using the Information Provided By Illegal Aliens Whose DREAM Act Amnesty Applications Are Denied To Initiate Their Removal Proceedings or Investigate or Prosecute Fraud in the Application Process
When an illegal alien's DREAM Act amnesty application is denied, the bill states that the alien will revert to their "previous immigration status," which is likely illegal or deportable. The bill, however, prohibits using any of the information contained in the amnesty application (name, address, length of illegal presence that the alien admits to, etc) to initiate a removal proceeding or investigate or prosecute fraud in the application process. Thus, it will be extremely hard for DHS to remove aliens who they now know are illegally present in the U.S., because illegal aliens will be able to claim that the legal action is a product of the amnesty application, and DHS will have the nearly impossible task of proving a negative.

The GOP Senate fence-sitters
SEN. JOHN MCCAIN 202-224-2235; 480-897-6289: Staff says he "hasn't made a public statement" and "hasn't made up his mind." He talked a tough border security game to get re-elected, while promising illegal alien activists he would "resolve their issues." (Refresh your memories here.)
SEN. OLYMPIA SNOWE 202-224-5344; 207-874-0883: Staff says she "hasn't released a statement."
SEN. SUSAN COLLINS 202-224-2523; 207-945-0417: Staff says she "hasn't released a public statement."
SEN. LISA MURKOWSKI 202-224-6665; 907-271-3735: Staff says she's "still reviewing the bill."
SEN. SAM BROWNBACK 202-224-6521; 785-233-2503 Staff says he "hasn't had a chance to look at it" and remains non-committal.
SEN. KAY BAILEY HUTCHISON 202-224-5922; 214-361-3500: Staff says she "hasn't released a statement," but will probably do so later today. UPDATE: HUTCHISON will vote AGAINST DREAM Act in its present form, says staff. ---> keep calling
SEN. GEORGE LEMIEUX 202-224-3041; 904-398-8586: Recorded message informs callers that he's "in a meeting." He has yet to publicly state his position as open-borders extremists step up pressure. UPDATE: LEMIEUX IS A NO.
SEN. RICHARD LUGAR, an original co-sponsor of the DREAM Act amnesty, remains a staunch supporter.
FYI: The following GOP Senators who had been of concern say they are opposed to the stand-along DREAM Act:
SEN. SCOTT BROWN: Staff says he “does not support ANY taxpayer illegal alien amnesty bills,” including the DREAM Act.
SEN. MIKE JOHANNS: Opposed the DREAM Act. Period.
SEN. GEORGE VOINOVICH: Opposed.
SEN. ORRIN HATCH: A former DREAM Act champion, he is now opposed.
SEN. JUDD GREGG: Staff says he is a likely no vote.
Now, here’s a look at a few of the key Democrat Senate fence-sitters and those leaning no on the stand-alone vote.
Remember: Your voices and your calls count.
SEN. JIM WEBB OF VIRGINIA 202-224-4024; 703-573-7090. Staff says “he hasn’t made a public statement.”
SEN. KENT CONRAD OF NORTH DAKOTA 202-224-2043; 701-258-4648. Staff says “he hasn’t released a statement.” Conrad has voted against the DREAM Act in the past.
SEN. BYRON DORGAN OF NORTH DAKOTA 202 224-2551. He voted against the DREAM Act in the past. Staff says he “hasn’t taken a public position.”
SEN. MARK PRYOR OF ARKANSAS 202-224-2353; 501-324-6336. He voted no on the DREAM Act cloture vote in September. Staff says he is “likely” to vote no again, though he hasn’t made an official public statement yet.
SEN. JON TESTER OF MONTANA 202 224-2644. Staff says he has voted against the DREAM Act in the past and “he will probably vote against any bill that has amnesty in it.”
SEN. MAX BAUCUS OF MONTANA 202-224-2651. He has opposed the DREAM Act in the past and is a “likely no” again in this session.
SEN. CLAIRE MCCASKILL OF MISSOURI 202-224-6154. She opposed the DREAM Act in the past and staff says she has made no statement changing her position otherwise.
Note the flip-flopper:
SEN. MARY LANDRIEU OF LOUISIANA 202-224-5824. She voted against the DREAM Act in the past, but staff said this morning she now supports it.
Here we go again. The cowardly Democrats are reportedly going to employ their trademark kiddie human shield strategy to try and pressure wavering Democrats.
This time again, for the sake of so little time to act, the easiest way is to just call the Capitol Switchboard and ask to be directly connected to one of the Senator's office: 202-224-3121.

DISCLOSE Act is back - Freedom of speech in danger
:Harry Reid is trying to shove through ANOTHER bill that has nothing to do with jobs or the economy. He is attempting to force the DISCLOSE Act through once more, hoping that this time he can convince one more Senator to say yes. As a reminder, the DISCLOSE Act -
Exempts unions from many of the restrictions that would be placed on other groups who are trying to influence elections
Exempts extremely large groups that have existed for years and years from many of the restrictions that would be placed on newly formed groups such as ours
Would be implemented in time for this November's elections, just in time to help incumbents stay in power
Creates two tiers of freedom of speech, particularly political speech - some of us would be restricted while others will not be
Is it a coincidence that Harry Reid is attempting to shove this down our throats just two days after Tea Party Patriots announces the $1 million donation? Is it also a coincidence that the Democrats are waiting to vote on the DISCLOSE Act until after they attend a high-dollar fundraiser tonight?
You decide.
Please call, email, or fax the following Senators and ask them to hold the line and vote NO once more. Remind them of the facts above, and remind them that Harry Reid has not changed one thing in the bill so there is NO JUSTIFICATION for them to change their votes to yes. Remind them that even the left leaning ACLU opposes this bill saying it will compromise free speech. The vote is supposed to take place sometime on Thursday, September 23.

A few ways this will affect you and your group personally:
You will have to be extremely careful about any email alerts you send out regarding what you say, if you mention a candidate's name, and when you send it
You may have to disclose all of your donors' names to the FEC
You will have to make sure you are following the "stand by your ad" requirements if your group published any sort political communication
Again, you will have to be very careful about the timing of your advocacy communications as they will limit the timeframe that you are allowed political speech

TPP statement about Mark Williams' claim
Mark Williams posted the following on his blog:
“Report: Tea Party Patriot Million $ donor is Univision founder. Jerry Perenchio. He’s a National Finance Co-Chair of the McCain 2008 campaign and the billionaire founder of Spanish-language media conglomerate, Univision.”

Official Statement from Mark Meckler and Jenny Beth Martin of Tea Party Patriots
“Once again Mark Williams has proven that he is disconnected from reality. We welcome anyone in the media or otherwise to call Jerry Perenchio and ask him if he is the donor. We apologize in advance to Mr. Perenchio for the phone calls and suggest he call and thank Mr. Williams.
We unequivocally state that Mark Williams is incorrect and his statement is baseless.

SUNDAY’S TEA PARTY AN EFFORT TO REPEAL, REDUCE, RESTORE GOVERNMENT
(ST LOUIS, MO) September 7, 2010 Labor Day has traditionally marked the beginning of the fall political season and this year is no exception. This weekend thousands of Tea Party Patriots from across the Midwest are expected to converge in St. Louis on September 12, 2010 for one of three large regional tea party rallies across the country. The St. Louis rally will be held under the Gateway Arch and begin at 1 p.m.; it is free and open to the public.
“Our agenda for the fall is very simple,” says Jenny Beth Martin, “we want to recycle government at every level. Our effort will be focused around the three “R”s which unite our movement: Repeal, Reduce Restore. We want to repeal the onerous legislation that has been passed against the will of the American people, reduce the size and cost of government at every level, and restore the Constitution as the loadstar of good government.” Martin is co-founder and national coordinator for Tea Party Patriots, the largest network of voluntarily affiliated tea party and 9/12 groups in the country.
American Majority, which conducts activist training seminars, will be also in town this weekend to offer a range of trainings on Saturday. “Many of our members are new to political activism, says Scott Boston, National Education Coordinator for Tea Party Patriots who is helping to coordinate Sunday’s rally, “and we are thrilled that St. Louis Tea Party was able to secure these trainings. I and many others have participated in them in the past, and they will be of great benefit as we work to get out the vote this year.” For more information on how to register for the trainings or event information go to recyclegovernment.org/stlouis.
Speakers at the rally will include US Congressional Representatives Steve King and Tom Price, political pundit, and conservative author Dick Morris, radio and Internet personalities and grassroots organizers from all across thee Midwest and from states as far as Maine and Washington. St. Louis attendees will hear music from country music legend Sammy Kershaw; former American Idol contestant Krista Branch; Neil E. Boyd, winner of America’s Got Talent and St. Louis diva Kim Massie.
The “9/12” rally, as its come to be known, first took place on 9/12/2009. More than 850,000 people converged on Washington, D.C. to protest out of control government spending, the erosion of personal liberties, and the bailouts of troubled industries. This year, the “9/12” rally will be held in St. Louis and Sacramento, CA in addition to Washington, D.C.

9.12 goes national...
This 9/12 there will not just be one big event in DC as there was last year. This year Tea Party Patriots and Freedomworks have expanded the large events across the country. They co-organised the hugely successful DC event last year.
This year Freedomworks is handling the DC event http://bit.ly/935Vu0, while the TPP are handling the St Louis and Sacramento events themselves. As the Reduce, Repeal, Restore event page proclaims. http://bit.ly/c60yqJ

Call about Porkulus II
Porkulus II: States Held Hostage
Why is Congress demanding governors and mayors fire teachers, cops, and firefighters before cutting ridiculous spending like this:
$120,000,000 spent on state-run liquor stores - Washington State
$39,608,662 spent on neighborhood & recreational services - Newark, New Jersey
$7,000,000 spent on museums - Oakland, California
$1,607,367 spent on awards and prizes at county fairs - Illinois
$1,000,000 spent on mural art - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
$750,000 spent on the opera house - Baltimore, Maryland
The Porkulus II:
Forces states to take bailout dollars, bypassing Governors who refuse the money, and forbidding them from making necessary budget cuts.
Gives teachers unions roughly $50 - $100 million through trickle-down.
Will increase the deficit by $12.6 billion, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
Will result in a permanent tax increase of $9.7 billion for U.S. multinational companies - increasing the cost of doing business and risking jobs during the recession. (Interestingly, the revenue from these same tax increases have already been spent...twice, in two other pieces of legislation!)
The fact is the federal government cannot afford to bailout states who refuse to cut back spending. In case Nancy Pelosi forgot, the American people still fund the federal government. If states can’t afford it, neither can the federal government. Bailing out states and extending failed stimulus programs only perpetuates states’ reliance on the federal government.

Action Alert...
Harry Reid and the Democrats’ New McCarthyism -
Voting on the DISCLOSE Act in ONE HOUR!
The Democrats are running scared, fearful of the impact grassroots activists will have in November. With the DISCLOSE Act, which will go into effect almost immediately, in time for the November elections, they will be able to effectively and legally shut us down. The effort to silence us before the elections is tantamount to a witch hunt. Read this email carefully for more information about this bill and then please make some phone calls NOW and tell them to VOTE NO!!

From our friends at Freedom Action about this speech violating bill:
Even if somehow the speech restrictions in this bill were constitutional, their uneven application would be a violation of the Fourteenth Amendment’s equal protection under the law. Even the left-leaning Sierra Club has labeled the DISCLOSE Act a two-tiered system that is “unfair and undemocratic" and that smaller grass-roots organizations would be disadvantaged because they lack the resources to cope with "the additional disclosure burdens." The unions and the big non-profit groups get to keep their free speech given to them in the January Supreme Court decision, but the corporations and small non-profits lose theirs under DISCLOSE.
Also, President Obama and some Democrats are dishonestly stating that the Court’s decision would “open the floodgates for special interest, including foreign corporations, to spend without limit in our elections.” However, current federal law and Federal Election Commission regulations already ban foreign corporations from participating directly or indirectly in American elections. (see 2 U.S.C. § 441e and 2 U.S.C. 437g).
Exampleville, Ohio has two people running for U.S. Congress—Mr. A and Mr. B—in what promises to be a close race. Exampleville’s local Tea Party believes in Mr. B. The Tea Party wants to run ads highlighting Mr. B’s stance on cap and trade, federal spending, increased taxation, etc, but they don’t have enough money to fulfill the new highly complex reporting requirements from DISCLOSE. And DISCLOSE would force them to list their top donors, even if they are not necessarily the specific donors to the ads, in their ads. Besides, the disclaimers required could take up to 14 of a 30 second ad. The Tea Party gives up trying to run ads to support Mr. Republican.
In contrast, Mr. A has some well-funded unions who want to see Exampleville’s factories unionized, so the unions run ads against Mr. B and ads for Mr. A. Also, the Sierra Club and the ACLU (groups actually opposed to DISCLOSE) want Mr. A to support their issues, so they also run ads for Mr. A. None of these ads are subject to DISCLOSE’s requirements.
Guess who wins?
(For those interested, here’s a good link with information on the actual language and problems with the DISCLOSE bill, click here.)
The DISCLOSE Act exempts unions and very large special interest groups!! And the little guy is left without a voice.

Statement on TPE & Racism
This is a good time to emphasize, once again, our independence. Tea Party Patriots have never been involved with Tea Party Express. Tea Party Patriots, whether nationally or in Maine, does not work with the Tea Party Express.
Tea Party Patriots Maine does not tolerate racism in any form from any source.
We exist only to further our core values of fiscal responsibility, limited government and the free market.

Tell Collins & Snowe to vote no on Disclose
The pressure to vote for DISCLOSE is enormous and placed squarely on Snowe and Collins. They are being told the bill is fair since it covers unions and businesses.
Please explain to Senators Snowe and Collins that:
1. DISCLOSE sounds fair, but is written to excuse most liberal and union groups and restrict most conservative and grassroots groups.
2. Passage of DISCLOSE would be a major blow to the Republican Party's chances of winning in November.
3. DISCLOSE dries up acess to millions of dollars of Republican campaign funding, while making it easier for Democrats to raise money.
4. This is not another McCain-Feingold. It is a trap.
Please vote against DISCLOSE!

Help the Franks stay...
"Immigration, especially the illegal kind, is very much in the news these days thanks to Arizona’s frustration based legislation. Words like amnesty are bandied about and cause much furor. Little however is said for those who jump over the various legal fences to do it properly.
Even when you do things by the book, it can all go wrong. Just because you play by the rules ....Spare a thought for those decent people who try to come in legally and are put through the ringer by bureaucracy."

Happy 4th
Tea Party Patriots Maine would like to wish all our fellow Mainers a wonderful 4th of July weekend.
We would respectfully request that people take a few minutes to ponder the true meaning of the day. Spare a thought for those who spent their days defending those liberties we celebrate and cherish. Remember those that serve both home and abroad in your hearts as you sing the national anthem, wave at the parade and admire the fireworks.
If so moved please pledge yourself to spending the next year doing all you can to protect those liberties and freedoms you so dearly cherish.

Congratulations to Yes on 1
The "people's veto" passed and the Legislature of Maine has been sent a clear message that Mainers do not want higher taxes.
All tea parties can you unite in celebrating the victory of common sense.

Vote Tuesday 8 June
We strongly encourage members of the tea party movement to vote Yes on Question 1. The people’s veto is an excellent opportunity for citizens of Maine to curb legislators’ tax and spend ways.
A yes vote on Question 1 is a no brainer for those concerned about limiting government, cutting taxes and fiscal responsibility.
The tea party movement remains neutral on the selection of a candidate to run for governor in November.

Yes on 1 rally... in Augusta on the 6th of June
Join our Rally to Reject 102 New Taxes!
June 5th, 12:00 Noon at the Statehouse
Vote YES to Reject New Taxes, Still Fed Up with Taxes, the Green Party, Democrats for Fair Tax Reform and numerous other groups will hold a rally June 5th at noon, at the Statehouse in Augusta to bring attention to question one on the ballot.
Question 1, the citizen veto of legislation to expand Maine's sales tax to 102 new services and items will be voted on by the people of Maine on June 8th. A YES on 1 vote will reject this new law.
Small business owners, anti tax groups and leaders across the state want to bring attention to the very misleading ads being broadcast across the state by pro-tax supporters of this legislation. Ads are being broadcast that tell Mainers to vote no to reject tax increases. The statement is completely false and we must educate Maine people on the truth.
Come help us! Bring an antique car, motorboat, snowmobile, put a mower or a 4-wheeler in the back of your truck, or just bring an item that will be taxed. Show Maine people what is going to be taxed and help get out the truth.
Remember: Vote YES on 1 on June 8th!

Protest @ Snowe's office tomorrow
Dear 912 members and other concerned Americans, 4/19/2010
After a year and a half of protesting, attending rallies, and talk of action, action has come to our backyard. The past two days I have posted on our site and sent out notification showing you what the Obama Administration is now focused on shoving down our throats this time. The financial reform act , which is nothing but a bail out fund and take over of the remaining 5/6ths of the economy.
I write you personally because, we have a unique opportunity here in Maine, by showing support and solidarity to Sen. Susan Collins and Snowe we can help them stand strong. We can show them that we will stand beside them, and have their back when they do the right thing, and stand up to the brutish tactics of the current administration.
This is a historic time in all our lives, and we, as Maine citizens and as taxpaying Americans have the once in a lifetime opportunity to derail the socialistic train that America has been shoved onto. We have Tea Party support that will get our message out to the rest of the country.
Maine can lead the way in saying, enough is enough! but we must act now and go show our Senators, that we will stand with them in their fight against the plans to "fundamentally transform America".
The battle for our nations future is here, and it is now, this is a call to action, and our actions Tuesday April 20th at 4:15 pm in Bangor at Senator Collins office will spread to the nation. We must keep the magic number at 41! It is only with your help and your devotion to saving our country that this can be done. Do what you must to be there, it will be a day for the history books.
Again, join me and Tea Party members alike, Tuesday April 20th 4:15 pm Margaret Chase Smith Federal Building, 202 Harlow Street, Bangor.
See you there, together we make a difference.

Augusta & Portland Tea Party reports....
A couple of reports about the Augusta rally in WBZ and Stanford Advocate. Here are some pics from Augusta.
Here is the decent coverage of the Portland Tea Party by WCSH, Channel 8 and Channel 13.
Well done to all the tea party organisers up and down the state, including Pete Harring and Laurie Brown.
I suspect the Portland attendance was adversely affected by the Tea Party Express event with Palin on the previous day. I know that at least two buses went south to see it. Mainers have only so much free time and the timing of the TPE event was unhelpful to Maine tea parties.
Update: Here is a rough cut of my speeches in Augusta & Portland, ME. Slick the production ain't.
The Exception Magazine has some speeches from tax day tea party up on its site.

Tea Parties Share Common Goals but Speak with Many Voices
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 12, 2010
Contact: Andrew Ian Dodge (1 207 607 3299)
Last week’s announcement that 23 tea party groups from around the nation had organized into a single coalition – the National Tea Party Federation – in order to provide a unified message and media response platform was met with both encouragement and caution by other tea parties around the nation.
“We really like the idea of tea parties collaborating to bring a message of limited government, fiscal responsibility and free markets across the country,” said Ken Emanuelson of the Dallas Tea Party and the statewide group of Common Sense Texans. “Too often, control of messaging on issues that are important to all Americans has gone to the heavily funded media machines of the far left. We have always worked to discuss ideas with our groups around Texas and the nation in order to test our ideas and to share best practices. We do not believe, however, that any one group or person is – or should be viewed as being – the leader of a movement as diverse and far-flung as the tea party movement.”
“We congratulate our many friends in the Federation in their focus on the central tea party message,” agreed Greg Holloway of the Austin Tea Party Patriots and fellow member of the Common Sense Texans, “but we know that local and state tea parties, 9-12 groups and other grassroots conservatives each have their own voice, because they realize best what is most important in their communities. The tea party that meets in the town square with 50 local citizens brings a voice that is equally important to that of larger groups in the big cities.”
One of the key players in the nation’s largest tea party network concurs. “Ours is a loosely connected organization by design,” said Jenny Beth Martin, National Coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots. “One of our initiatives this Spring was a video project in which patriots from across the nation announced that each of them was the tea party leader. We were responding to attacks from James Carville and Bill Clinton, who were looking for tea party leaders to vilify. We say ‘good luck’ finding that one leader. All Americans who hold dear our Constitutionally-protected principles of limited government are tea party leaders.” Added Mark Meckler, fellow National Coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots, “The day that we are recognized as the leaders of the tea party will be the day that we have not lived up to our objectives.”
Tea partiers across the nation generally do not desire to be part of organizations that consist of pedestal positions such as leader or director. There are in excess of 1700 local groups and millions of tea party and 9-12 project members across the country that sometimes formally, and often informally, share tools, resources, training and networking. Many are already part of statewide networks and many are part of the Tea Party Patriots network, but all address their local politics and issues.
“I don’t view the Federation as saying they are the one voice going forward for all tea parties,” stated Sally Oljar of the Seattle Sons & Daughters of Liberty, “although we can certainly imagine the media running with that notion because it’s convenient for their own narrative. The message of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally-limited government, and free markets hasn’t changed in the 14 months since the beginning of our movement. We remain united and focused around those core principles. We trust one another to express those principles in our own way, in our own communities, and using our own best judgment of how to communicate effectively.”
“The strength of the tea party movement is the fact that it is leaderless, non-partisan and grassroots,” added Andrew Ian Dodge of the Maine Tea Party Patriots. “We do not need leaders, but merely people to help and advise those on the ground to maximize their efforts to overturn the socialist majority in both the House and the Senate. Americans are clearly tired of top down politics at any level.”
One of the newest tea parties, the Armed Forces Tea Party Patriots, made it clear that its voice needs to be heard. Its organizer, Gary Stein, pointed out, “In the Armed Forces we wear the same uniform, have the same haircut, and swore the same oath, but have different thoughts. We have come together as a band of brothers and sisters in uniform to stand for what is right. We share a life that unique only to us, we share a Tea Party that unique to us. We are the Armed Forces Tea Party Patriots and our voice will be heard!”

Obamacare protest in Maine
Here are shots of the decent sized and well behaved protest crowd. Well done to everyone showing the Gadsden flag to the socialist hordes.
Of amusement is the fact they over-sold the venue and people were turned away. Considering they waited in the rain to get the tickets that is pretty lame. Course its nothing like the waiting list and disappoint in store for people thanks to Obamacare.

Obama is in town today... come protest Obamacare
A whole myriad of groups are turning up outside the Portland Expo, in Portland starting from about 1230 today to protest Obamacare. I know of groups from PaintMaineRed, Maine Patriots, Maine Heritage, College and Young Republicans. It should be quite the turnout.
Come join the fun.
Update: Please film and take photos of the event(s). If you do please send me the shots/links as soon as they are available.

Tea Party Patriot statement on violence & intimidation..
First and foremost, Tea Party Patriots has a zero tolerance policy against violence or bigotry from Democrats, Republicans or Independents, and expects this standard to be applied equally to all. The values of Tea Party Patriots are clearly opposed to those who choose this path. By the same token, public anger at Congress is legitimate and warranted. Congress is not listening to the American people and their complaints. Sadly today, the majority in Congress continue to ignore and downplay the clearly expressed feelings of the majority of the American people. According to a CBS poll on March 24th, a full 62% of the American public wants this bill challenged. It is time for Congress to listen to the American people and act accordingly. Meanwhile, Tea Party Patriots will continue to provide constructive means for the American people to make their voices heard.

March 16th to DC
To All Tea Party Groups, 9.12 Groups and other Organizations,
I am writing this email to all of you in the hopes we can all come together as one. United in the purpose of saving our country and make a final stand against the liberals in congress.
I have spoken to many people throughout the day, and the one tactic we have all agreed, and that is we must go to Washington. Not as a mass protest in the streets, but as a mass of citizens converging on every liberal congressional office. Lines upon lines of citizens waiting to see congressmen. Not patriots, not 9.12 people, not as an organization, but as Americans. Citizens of all walks of life, of all colors, from every corner of the country. Lines and lines of men and women, young and old standing shoulder to shoulder.
There has been much made about reconciliation, but the fight right now is in the House. If the Senate Bill passes without changes this battle is lost. Make no mistake about this simple fact. If we lose this battle, not only will our country lose, our children lose, and we will lose as a movement. It is time we put differences aside for one or two days and unite to defeat this bill.
I want your input and I want others to see your input. That is why all emails tonight are exposed. Most of the conversations today focused on March 16th as a good day as all members of congress will be in town. This will give us time to get emails to all members of our groups. Arrange buses if needed, book flights, and find hotel rooms. We can do this in one day or two. I need your input.
We can send emails, make phone calls, have candle light vigils, but nothing beats a face to face with thousands. Nothing would have an impact like every congressman and woman walking by long lines of Americans standing in their halls.
We need no signs, we need not wear a single group shirt. We just come, and come, and come. We come as Americans and we leave victorious.
Please let me know if you are willing to make this stand.

DECLARATION OF TEA PARTY INDEPENDENCE: a re-interpretation...
DECLARATION OF TEA PARTY INDEPENDENCE
For much of its history, the United States has been a land of prosperity and liberty. Sound policies such as fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and a belief in the free market have safeguarded this condition.
In recent years, however, Congress, the White House, the Federal Reserve Board, and the court system have replaced those practices with profligate government spending and expansion of the government power beyond what is constitutionally permissible via government control of banks, the auto industry, and other large sectors of the economy.
This course, if not reversed, can only lead to economic collapse and tyranny.
Therefore, Individuals acting through the Tea Party movement seek to reinstate policies which are proven to safeguard liberty and prosperity for all. We will organize, demonstrate and vote until this restoration has been achieved. We will stay focused on this goal and remain INDEPENDENT from any persons or political parties who seek to distract us from this end.
And for the support of this Declaration, we the Undersigned mutually pledge to each other our tireless Effort, our sense of Urgency, and a trust in the power of our combined Voices.
More on this here, Matt has kindly adopted my idea of printing this out and having people sign it to display at events or in public places.

April 15th in Augusta
Tax Day Tea Party 2010
04/15/2010
Maine ReFounders/Paint Maine Red is again Joining forces with the group Maine Patriots to hold an Tax Day Tea Party at Capitol Park in Augusta from 3 PM till 7 PM. It is our intention to create a grassroots coalition of Americans and provide a platform to unite around a common goal of stopping the socialistic liberal agenda, seek out and support individuals with True Conservative Values, we are also here to let our officials know that RINO's are on the endangered species list here in Maine and will soon be extinct. If done properly, we will create the foundation and structure for rebuilding the conservative movement and restoring constitutional leadership to our State and Nation.
The Augusta Tax Day Tea Party 2009 was a huge success, almost 1000 fellow Mainers from over 163 towns showed up to tell our officials that we will be silent no
more. Lets make it 5,000 this year!!!
Our goal is simple keep the grassroots movement on fire. "We want to keep
Patriots excited and pumped up, we want them to continue to pound on the door of Congress and the White House."
Help wanted with many different tasks. We need people willing to man information and sign in tables, set up and clean up etc.. Also we need donations to cover insurance, porta potty's, flyer's and so on. Please donate today! Any amount will help. We also need help with providing Pocket Constitutions for everyone who attends. Please go to your local stores and talk to the owners, ask them if you can post a flier in there store And asked them for a donation of goods or services. We will be holding a raffle to help cover the cost of pocket constitutions and this event.
Please attend and donate a little time and money to make this bigger and better than the last one.
If anyone has any suggestions or talents that they would like to share please contact me.
If You are interested in speaking let me know. It is our intention to hold this event for WE THE PEOPLE! This is not going to be a campaign rally for candidates running in 2010. This event is all about the Constitution and letting our voices be heard. We will not be inviting any politicians or candidates to speak, as far as I am concerned if they wish to speak to we the people, they can come to us.
You can send me an e-mail at PaintMaineRed@gmail.com
