Tea Party man runs for selectman

Today I got the nomination forms to run for Harpswell, ME selectman. The reason I am going to run is that the current batch (three) are clearly anti-business and seem to want to make sure there are no businesses left in Harpswell at all. As someone who frequents Harpswell business as often as I can, I find this sort of attitude incompatible with having a vibrant local community.

As the Maine state co-ordinator for the tea party patriots I am very keen on the core values of fiscal responsibility, limited government and the free market.

I look forward to meeting more citizens of Harpswell in my quest to give a business friendly voice to the governance of the town of Harpswell.

For any information on me please head to Elect the Dodge.

Rally in Augusta/Maine coordinator on Farm Relief Freedom Rally

Event: 7th of Nov
Where: State House Parking lot in Augusta.
When: 12:00 (noon) until 3.
Why: To remind elected representatives that in exactly a year they will be up for election.
In addition two participants in the following cross-country event will be attending.
_______
Farmer Relief & Freedom Relay to partner with Saving the Valley (www.savingthevalley.org) that Hope Forgot – A Tea Party Patriots™ relief relay across the nation to assist the farmers of California’s Central Valley.
In actions that can only be described as lacking the most basic humanity, the U.S. Congress has turned off the water to Central Valley farmers, leaving their land dry, their fields fallow, and their dreams and ambitions scattered in the dust. Tens of thousands are unemployed and waiting in food lines. The federal government is proving once again that the government is the problem, not the solution.
In the Central Valley of California, the Central Valley Tea Party, Water for All, Families Protecting the Valley, and local valley farmers have banded together to provide immediate and direct assistance to the suffering communities. The Central Valley Tea Party naturally reached out to their nationwide network through the Tea Party Patriots™. Across the nation the response was overwhelmingly positive. From this nationwide web, the Farmer Relief & Freedom Relay was formed.
Tea Party Patriots™ from across the nation are organizing three relief missions crossing the country with food, clothing, gift cards and other donations to assist the farmers who have been forsaken by their own government.

_____________

Northern leg speaker Andrew Ian Dodge (Tea Party Patriots coordinator for Maine (http://maineteaparty.blogspot.com) and Josh Parker (TPP organizer in Texas) will be in Augusta to talk about their mission, which begins on Sunday with an event in Worchester, Mass.

Pelosicare explained...

The bill is 1,990 pages long and contains a separate 13-page bill to repeal the sustainable growth rate caps on Medicare spending. The Bill will cost more than $200 billion and is not paid for, which will break Obama’s promise to Congress during his speech.

The bill contains the word “shall” 3,425 times. Though Steny Hoyer just said the bill was open and transparent, they prevented the American people from attending their publicity rally by checking IDs and keeping people out.

Ron Paul, porker, gets opponent...

Katy, Texas – October 26, 2009 – Tim Graney of Katy, Texas, announced last Monday his candidacy for the 14th Congressional District of Texas. He’s a former small business owner who will be entering his first political race with strong momentum coming out of his campaign launch last week.

Graney is running against long-term incumbent Ron Paul. “It is time for Ron Paul to step down and step aside so he can pursue his own interests while a new statesman emerges to represent the district,” states Graney. "I told him so Sunday afternoon." Graney went on to say, “I am a fiscal conservative, but I do not support Ron Paul’s weak foreign policy views, nor do I support his do whatever you want ultra-Libertarian views that conflict with our American values.”

In his first term in office, Graney will focus on three key areas of legislation to propel this country forward – Energy, Business Growth, and American Values. Graney says, “The first two are paramount to the economic and long term security of our nation and the third will help return us to our roots that founded and built the greatest nation on earth.”

Graney believes in Energy Initiatives. He will focus on “Expansion of Drilling, Expansion of Nuclear Energy, and Expansion of Research.”

“For decades, the issue of Energy Independence has been talked about without anything ever getting done,” says Graney. “Continued failure to act by the representatives in Washington has lead to a weakened national security and economy. I am here to help reverse that trend.”

He also explains, “The 3 R’s of my Business Growth Initiatives: Reduce Regulation, Reduce Taxation, Re-grow Jobs in America.” As a former small business owner, he understands the pain of dealing with business regulations. Graney wants a zero percent tax rate for small businesses (those who have a profit of less than one million dollars) so they can reinvest their money into their business and continue to grow jobs.

Graney’s third plank is maintaining American Values. “As we move our nation into the future it is imperative that we not forget where we have come from and how we got here,” says Graney. “We must not lose sight of our American values that are being slowly eroded by political correctness. We must return to the principled roots of the founding values that have made America what it is today.”

Monday, October 19, was Graney’s campaign launch event. Within his first week of announcing, Graney has raised in excess of $15,000. "This overwhelming response is humbling and inspirational. It confirms to me that people are willing to support a conservative candidate with traditional values and a clear message that resonates with them. Even in tough economic times, people are finding ways to contribute toward my campaign. I am more resolute than ever to help steer our nation back onto the path of common-sense energy initiatives, a government that is friendly to small business, and a return to our American values."

His wife of 15 years is Corrine Graney. "I'm proud of Tim," she says. "He is serving a cause greater than himself. Our boys, ages 11 and 9, look up to their father, who is teaching them by example that politics can indeed be a noble calling." Graney attributes his values, instilled at a young age, to his upbringing.

This election cycle will define our country in crucial ways. “My time to serve this great nation has arrived; it is the least I can do the repay all she has given me.”

Graney is running against long-term incumbent Ron Paul. “It is time for Ron Paul to step down and step aside so he can pursue his own interests while a new statesman emerges to represent the district,” states Graney. Snowe praised for her stance...

October 13, 2009

Cheer Senator Olympia Snowe,

Great Job!

We all see that you have sided with the tax infested power hungry politicians on the health care proposal. If our understanding is correct, the vote was taken in connection to a summary document. If that is the case and you voted yes to a summary, which will infect the entire United States population from now until.........., you are undoubtedly one of the most brilliant leaders that the world has ever known. There are not many people who would vote yes to an 890 plus billion-dollar proposal (oh just the first ten years...whoops) without having completely read it and understood it. So what if it could cause every American to eventually loose their private health insurance policies (due to the insurance industry going belly up or the taxes imposed causing many to be unable to afford private insurance any longer).

Ms. Snowe...you truly are a great leader.

You deserve the Nobel Leader Prize!

Undoubtedly...your great skills will soon be known across the world via talk
radio, news broadcasts, and viral email communications.

Seriously,

JKMc

CC: To various Senators, Congress Members, State of Maine Tea Parties
and other Conservative Groups...so they can congratulate you on your many
fine accomplishments.

Statement on non-partisan status...

Tea Party Organizers Highlight Non-Partisan Grassroots Principles

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 7, 2009
Contact: Andrew Ian Dodge (207.721.0651)/maineteaparty@gmail.com

Last month’s successful March on Washington, which highlighted the tea party movement’s ability to give everyday Americans a voice in government, has resulted in the media crediting various political action groups for leadership and direction of the movement. An article in October 5’s Wall Street Journal, among others, noted the role of FreedomWorks (a small-government advocacy organization headed by former Republican Congressman Dick Armey) in lending “financial clout and organizational skills to those running tea-party and town-hall demonstrations.” The Tea Party Express, a traveling troupe of activists funded through the Our Country Deserves Better PAC, ended their first tour in Washington before the September 12 rally and is planning a new national tour during the fall. Americans for Prosperity, a national conservative advocacy group, financially supports, and is supported by, some tea party organizations in parts of the country.

Tea party organizers want to set the record straight.

“We enjoy the opportunity to work with other like-minded groups across the country in advocating fiscal responsibility, free markets and adherence to the Constitution in our federal, state and local governments,” says Jenny Beth Martin, Board member of the national Tea Party Patriots. “We appreciate the efforts of FreedomWorks, among others, in providing structure to the September 12 rally. However, our funding, organization and direction is entirely centered on our grassroots teams at the state and local levels, and so we do not want to be misconstrued as being part of FreedomWorks or any other more institutionally funded advocacy group. We are not a top-down organization. We are a movement that dervives its energy and direction from local groups of patriots that want the nation to return to its Constitutional roots.”

Tea party organizers across the country note that the Our Country Deserves Better PAC has not released specifics on where the money raised on its tour will be sent, other than to say it will be spent on expenses and on selected conservative – and likely Republican - political candidates. They also point out that an executive member of the PAC has made ad hominem attacks on President Obama that they consider distasteful.

Other parts of the country have found that Americans for Prosperity-funded groups have given some tea parties a distinctly pro-Republican Party flavor, much to the chagrin of rank-and-file tea partiers who point out that federal government spending grew at alarming rates during the Bush Administration. “Although we are conservative in political philosophy, we are non-partisan in approach,” notes Mark Meckler, Tea Party Patriots national board member. “Both parties need to re-dedicate themselves to the principles of our founding fathers and remember that this should be the government of ‘We the People’ and not of special interest groups or pork-laden politics.”

The mission of Tea Party Patriots (www.teapartypatriots.org) is to curb excessive government spending and taxation and to attract, educate, organize, and mobilize our fellow citizens to secure public policy consistent with our three core values of Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government and Free Markets.

contract from america launched

Contract from America

“We the People” to Assert the Power to Guide Legislative Direction

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 21, 2009

Contact: Ryan Hecker (215.880.2430) or Greg Holloway (512.585.7631)

In an initiative that harkens to the core principles of the Declaration of Independence, the Tea Party Patriots and other grassroots activists have established a project which will enable the American people to establish legislative priorities for their representatives. This new project, called “Contract from America,” offers the public the opportunity to make specific legislative suggestions in thirteen areas of public policy, ranging from health care to ethics reform, energy and environmental issues.

In true grassroots style, Ryan Hecker, from Houston, Texas, conceptualized and created the Contract from America, and brought it to the Tea Party Patriots. In discussing the project, he spoke of the need for more public involvement in the determination of America’s public policies. “Over the past decades, the majority of ideas and policies have originated in the backrooms of lobbyists and legislators in Washington DC. New legislation has often originated from special interests. These ideas and policies have proven to be tired and ineffective. I know the American people have better ideas for our government. Contract from America is their opportunity.”

Contractfromamerica.com was launched immediately prior to the Stand up for Liberty! rallies held in Texas and Ohio over the Labor Day Weekend, and was announced to the nation at the 9-12 March on Washington.

As ideas are offered online by grassroots visitors, individuals will be able to vote on ideas or suggest alternatives in each category. Editors selected from among tea party activists from around the country will choose the top three ideas in each policy area. A vote of the people will select the ideas to be presented to elected officials as the choices of the people.

Hecker noted further, “This website provides Americans with the opportunity to offer their innovative solutions to our nation’s pressing problems and to vote and comment on the ideas of others. We believe that the result of this grassroots-generated marketplace of ideas will be a document that not only represents the will of the American people, but promotes unique ideas that will breathe new life and new trust into American government. We will have a Contract From America for which we are all responsible and in which we all feel a sense of ownership.”

Tea Party in Bangor @ 1pm Sat 12th of September

Lois' 2nd Tea Party is in Bangor at 1PM Saturday across from the Post Office. Come on down and show the World how much you "appreciate" everything they are doing to us in Augusta and Washington. And by all means, bring a sign!

Professor Frary will be arriving from the Board Meeting of Maine Taxpayers United in Freeport, after driving there from Farmington at 7AM. He WILL have a sign. There will be a contest for "Who Drove the Most to Get Here" which The Professor fully intends to win.

GOOD NEWS: The People's Veto of the new and improved sales taxes coming to you, courtesy of the Legislature in Augusta at midnight on the last day of the session, HAS SUCCEEDED. The law has been suspended, and a vigorous public debate will now precede the voters decision in June.

NO ONE among the Legislative Leadership expected Charlie Webster to pull this off. Their increasing hysteria about the tax revenues they will lose in this stealth tax increase is almost comical to see. When did you last see the opponents of ANY petition drive actually try to block the tables of petition gatherers? 1.800 signatures were stolen out of a car. Police intervention because of legislator's interfering with petitioners -You name it.

Certain legislators will claim that this bill, while undeniably raising sales taxes on a bewildering array of items and services, MIGHT lower the income tax. The same way LD1 "lowered" real estate taxes, or school consolidation "saved" money, or the state takeover of the jails "lowered" costs. Don't be fooled again - Vote YES in June and Veto the tax increase.

SEE YOU IN BANGOR TOMORROW, 1to 2PM, across from the Post Office!

Americans are struggling to pay health care costs. We're looking for

Well done 4th of July tea parties...

Reading reports from all over the country and there were quite a few successful events. As many were spread out over the weekend/earlier this week there were not the sheer numbers we had on the 15th of April. Please check back here and on TPP for upcoming events.

There is, of course, the 9/12 March on Washington, which you can buy merchandise for here.

There is a health care event in Kennebunkport in the middle of this month. I shall post news when I get more details.

End of Live Free or Die Rally end of free assembly for America?

Judi McLeod and Jean Coutu
Email Article

By Judi McLeod and Jean Coutu Saturday, May 30, 2009
Putting it in the vernacular of little people everywhere: “The worst has happened”.

The 4th Annual New Hampshire Live Free or Die Rally is quickly sinking into a quagmire of bureaucratic red tape, and with no 11th hour reprieve on the horizon, chief organizer Jean Coutu may have to cancel.
Billed as the All Free, Only TRUE First Amendment Rally in the U.S., this years Live Free or Die Rally is scheduled for August 21, 22 and 23.

“It looks like it’s finally over. Not just for us, but for the right to assemble, Coutu wrote Canada Free Press (CFP) in an email today. “Though I don’t agree with the ACLU on everything, almost every year the ACLU has gone after city hall bureaucrats to get our permits.”

The landscape has changed, dissent is being suppressed in America and now the ACLU is refusing to back the LFDR, in part because of the rally’s Appleseed Project Instructional Shoot Feature--even though it meets all state ordinances.

This is not a good sign for the scores of Tea Parties planned for July 4th.

Politically correct and compromised by stimulus money, the bureaucrats of town and city halls decide whether Tea Parties and rallies can be held in their jurisdictions.

Coutu sees it as the death of the right to assemble in President Barack Obama’s USA.

Below in his own words is a message to patriots he is hoping the Internet will take viral this weekend:

“Dear Patriots,

“Although you may not know it, this is an historic day in history. Your rights under the First Amendment to free speech, redress and assembly in the U.S. is finally dead. It has joined the many annulments to your constitutional rights in recent years like warrant-less access to your private information, the enactment of the soon and upcoming police states, socialism, and the growing list of other achievements under the--and to the delight of--the New World Order elites.

“To my knowledge, I am one of the only people in the U.S. that has been organizing true first amendment assemblies over the past 20 years. Ninety-nine percent of the population, including activists really don’t know what that is. Well, the day I saw coming and dreaded has finally arrived. It is too lengthy to explain many years of legal study what a true first amendment assembly is. In brief it means, citizens assembling in an all-free, non-commercial fashion, peaceably to redress political issues on public or private property by free will. Unknown to many, all that was required was to notify the municipality in which it was to take place. If the municipality chose to impose police detail or costs, fees, bonding, and the many things they come up with, it could be challenged in court. There have been many rulings on this issue in the U.S. Supreme Court favoring the citizen. For the average U.S. citizen exercising this right for this process is grueling, which I have done many times successfully.

“At least it WAS possible in the past. However, unless a citizen had or has the financial or legal resources to fight the municipality, they are bound to the municipality’s ordinances and their many requirements and fees often thwarting the assembly. There are no avenues available in the U.S. other than to contact the busy ACLU for the average citizen’s protection for the enforcement of their rights. Often contacting attorneys , state or U.S. representatives, rights organizations, etc. falls on deaf ears as it did with this year’s national 4th annual NH Live Free or Die Rally. Our only hope was the ACLU intervening again this year when the local authorities ordered a commercial site plan review death knell subject to many approvals, fees, permission from abutters, etc. for this non-commercial rally.

“Many eyes nationwide have been on the outcome, and we have really bad news to tell. The liberal-based ACLU refuses to intervene this year. The requirements of the local municipality are insurmountable beyond even my means or knowledge. If we chose to hold the LFOD rally anyway, the authorities will arrest participants and revoke the license of the kind individuals who donated the 300-acre private property venue. I have spent 20 years of my life, thousands of volunteer hours with thousands of blue collar-dollars to keep these rallies alive to aid in the preservation of the First Amendment--apparently in vain.

“In the end my biggest adversaries have been the sheeple whose rights I’ve been fighting for and the deaf ears my warnings fell upon. In part, the purpose of this non-partisan annual rally was to unite the often feuding national organizations to come under one tent in unity, which was finally starting to happen with more than 40 endorsing organizations. With much respect to their many efforts, the only possibility of a true peaceful revolution and change at this point will be through unity, which will involve a tolerance many do not have. Many organizations refuse to participate unless it is all about them, their agenda or their strings attached.

But the real winners here are the NWO elite. I expect this day in history and the silencing of the American people and the certain removal of yet another and the most important right they have, to pass quietly by. The elite have conditioned the masses to not even know that they were silenced or that they were stripped of any means to do anything about it.

In closing, I sincerely wish the Tea Parties and the many other rallies I see planned for this summer well, if the elite allow you to assemble.

Enjoy it while you can because you’re next to get shut down.

Rally against socialism in health care...

The group “Maine HealthCare Reform” will hold a rally this coming Saturday at the State House in Augusta to rally for a national socialized healthcare plan. These same rallies will be going on across the country at the same time. (See the poster here: http://www.midcoasthealthcarereform.org/)

We want to make sure that our side has a strong voice on this issue, so we are looking for folks to join us Saturday for a counter demonstration.

We will meet Saturday, May 30th, at 11am at 12 Church Street in Augusta for coffee and doughnuts and to make sure everyone is armed with a sign. We plan to rally at the State House at 12pm.

If you would like to participate in this important counter protest and need more information, please contact Trevor at trevorbragdon@gmail.com

Cry Freedom...the tea party music video...

Like Metallica, I never thought I would do a music video for any of my songs. Like a lot of other things in my life, I should never say never.

I hope you enjoy the video whichK T Dodge worked hard to get right. I am just a performing monkey, its the tea party participants, organisers and K T that make it all work.

Watch the signs...there are some rather amusing ones.

Water shots filmed in South Harpswell, ME.

And that media expert is me. They very kindly did a nice write-up on the site. I look forward to helping organisers through the maze that is dealing with the media.

Maine Tea Parties a great success

All across the state the Tea Parties attracted far more people than anticipated. The MSM was pretty scarce most of the time but all in all we did what set out to do. Thanks to all that made this such a special day.

A request: misinformation about the 15th.

If anyone tells you they are confused because they read there was an event from 2-7pm in Augusta please ask where they got that information. There seem to be people putting it about there is one single event in Capital Park on April 15th. That is not the case.

The purpose of the Tea Party

These are not, some of the organizers of individual events point out, complicated events to stage . . . The key is that there are many events occurring all day on the same day — this is what brings them their sense of community and their political strength.
